A sleepy little one today

Munchkin wasn't terribly happy to see us yesterday. We would play a little and then she would realize she was in an unfamiliar room with strange people and start to whimper. At one point, she was in an all-out cry, but even this was still more of a whimper. (Nothing like our Syd when she was a baby; when she cried the whole neighborhood knew it.) Although it is hard to see our little one so sad, we were relieved to show that we were able to calm her and comfort her. This is when we realized how very tired our Munchkin was as she leaned in to me and gave a good yawn many times over.

I was able to hold Munchkin for the majority of our visit, sometimes out of necessity to keep her from trying to escape. It was the first time this week she let me hold her so I loved every moment of it - and got a pretty good arm work out! At the end of the visit, Munchkin went to Chad and he got to hold her for awhile and carry her downstairs back to her grupa. This was especially wonderful because it was Chad's last visit with her before going back home.

This morning we have our court hearing at 10:30a.m. The hearings typically last 1.5 - 2 hours. Our translator, Lana, will be in attendance with us as well as the regional social worker, Olga Our adoption ccoordinator, Irina, will be waiting close by. It is something to be taken seriously, of course, but nothing to fear. As our translator assured us yesterday, we already know the answers to all the questions; we now only need to share them sincerely and honestly with the judge. The judge, after all, carries an enormous responsibility; her decision will change the life of a child forever. We know that her decision to let us adopt Munchkin will create nothing but the most positive change for our little girl.

  1. It's so exciting to get to follow along with your journey - thank you for sharing these updates with us back home! I worked with Cole tonight on saying Natalia's name - I hope she doesn't mind being Talia for awhile with her suitor! Jolene
